A Positive Hospital Birth Experience | The Confident Momcast

June 12, 2019

I recently made available this resource series called The Confident Momcast: Fearless conversations about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum for the new and expecting Mom.

As a maternity and newborn photographer (located in Pittsburgh but who travels often to NYC, Connecticut, and beyond), I have the privilege of often spending time with new moms- and if there’s one thing I’ve learned about stepping into motherhood- it’s that knowledge is power, and having a tribe trumps mom-ing alone. You will be able to tune in to learn from other moms and birth & baby experts from all over the world. Whether you’re preparing your mind and body for the new season ahead, or up nursing in the middle of the night, there’s going to be a community of conversation waiting for you.

In this episode, I am joined by a past client of mine, Tonie. (I photographed her maternity session and her newborn session) She had a really great pregnancy, overcame fear, and had a positive hospital birth experience. She shares about what she wished she knew looking back, and how to focus on the positive despite other’s “advice” and “expectations”.

We chat about:
– A positive hospital birth
– Overcoming fear and focusing on the positive
– Back labor
– A failed epidural connection
– The value of a lactation consultant
– Deciding who should be in the delivery room
