This at-home newborn photography session in the Tribeca area of New York City was so beautiful! From the moment Grace reached out I knew we would be such a great fit for working together. Her value for the art of photography, her personal style, and her desire to create meaningful and timeless portraits of her brand new family of three made her an absolute dream to work with. We spent the majority of their session photographing in their home, and then we made out way towards Rockafeller Park that was close by.

Normally I only photograph outdoors closer to sunset when the light is softer, but we were able to find some open shade and the black and white film handled that light beautifully! The reason photographers will often photograph their outdoor sessions close to sunset as I do is that the sunlight during the day is too harsh- casting unflattering shadows which makes proper exposure difficult. The park was flooded with families enjoying the beautiful weekend afternoon, but we found a little shaded spot near some flowers and it worked great!

Baby N did so well for his session. He is a few months old in these photographs, to give you an idea if you are trying to decide whether the first weeks of having a tiny newborn is the best fit for you, or if you want to wait a few months. He handled his modeling debut like a champ and soon fell asleep for some snuggly shots that I of course adore.

The majority of the images shared below were photographed on medium format black and white film, which has grown to be a favorite signature of my work.
