A couple months ago I had the incredible opportunity of flying out to San Francisco for two portrait sessions, and a mentoring session with a local photographer. Jeannie, a photographer herself, came across my work on Pinterest one day. She was feeling burnt out, uninspired, and hoping that someone would pop put to her as she scrolled. She came across one of my connection portraits that someone had pinned, followed it back to my website and Facebook page, and saw that I was flying to San Francisco for a newborn session and opening up a few additional spots while I was there. A lightbulb moment happened, where she knew that her need for inspiration was coming for a desire to have a portrait experience herself with her own children. We photographed this session in a park near the Woodside area, one of Jeannie’s own personal areas to host sessions of her own. Her two beautiful children joined us, and for once this mother got to be the one who received the memorable experience.

It’s one of those stories where it sounds sort of crazy to even tell it. It’s encouraging to know that all the time and effort that is dedicated to pinning and sharing my work with others reaps the reward of someone out there seeing it- and knowing that its the answer. The experience she is looking for that she didn’t even know she needed until she saw it. She didn’t just want a family portrait session. She wanted someone to capture the relationship that she has with each of her children. She wanted someone to go deeper and photograph her motherhood as it truly is and feels. I was so honored that she chose to work with me! We just met and designed her gorgeous hand-crafted matted album, covered in exclusive linen fabric and filled with her favorite black and white portraits from our time together. I cannot wait to see how it looks in person!
