Last summer I traveled across the ocean to visit Copenhagen with my friend Alicia, who was photographing a gorgeous estate wedding in the countryside of Denmark. On the way home, we added a few days in Iceland to our trip, and we both fell in love with the landscape of this country. The tones, the colors, the textures…it’s a photographer’s dream world!

Knowing she wanted to start a family of her own sometime in the year to come, and being the photographers that we are, at every beautiful spot we kept saying what a dream it would be to photograph her future maternity portraits here. Never really thinking that could actually be a possibility! 

Fast forward a year, and my beautiful, beautiful friend is expecting her very first baby, and somehow Iceland actually HAPPENED, and we boarded a plane to make magic happen in the land of blue lagoons, black sand, and lava fields. It was such an honor to not only photograph her first portraits of motherhood, but to do so in the glacial landscape of a country I have grown to love so much!

A huge thank you to Everthine Bridal Boutique for providing Joanna August dresses that were perfect for our vision. We drove along the Southern Coast of Iceland towards Jökulsárlón, an incredible Glacier Lagoon that we didn’t get to see firsthand on our first trip- we stopped through the black sand beaches of Vik, and up north of Reykjavik to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. It was a lot of driving, but the views and photo shoot locations were so worth it!! I so hope to return to Iceland for more opportunities to photograph there- as there is still so much I have yet to see and do there.
