I first met Suji at a photography workshop in New Haven, CT. I had the honor of meeting her in Central Park, NYC not long after that to photograph new head shot images for her brand and website, and she also attended The Fount Workshop last Spring- so we have gotten to know each other pretty well over the last couple years! When Suji told me that she was expecting last Fall, I was SO excited for her, and beyond honored to be the one asked to photograph their in home newborn session when she arrived. It’s always such a huge compliment when another photograph asks you to photograph not only them, but the ones they love most in the world. Baby Vivienne’s proud older bothers were also part of the session!

I have been incorporating medium format film in my portrait sessions for almost a year now, but this was the first session that I really photographed with MORE film than I did digital! When I received the scans, I was blown away and knew that it was the right decision for this session. I just adore black and white film, and the romantic and timeless feel it gives to each image it creates.

I am so excited to share with you a look at just some of my favorite portraits from their portrait session, photographed in their beautiful Madison, New Jersey home. Almost all of the images you see here were photographed on black and white medium format film.
