I’m the first to agree that there are SO many conferences and workshops available in the creative industry, that’s it’s really so hard to choose the priority of investment, especially if you’re new in business and funds are limited! I totally get it. You want to attend a workshop or conference so your business can grow, but you need your business to grow so you can AFFORD to attend a workshop or conference.

That’s why I think it’s really important, especially when you’re brand new, to really put time and thought into where you invest, and sometimes that means saying no to opportunities that everyone else SEEMS to be saying yes to. And other times, you know that you know that you’re supposed to attend, and are willing to hustle to see the income come in to cover it.

This coming March and April, I will be speaking at both the Creative at Heart Conference in Annapolis, and the Pursuit Conference in Rome, Georgia. I am humbled to be joining such an incredible line up of talent at both of these conferences.

I attended my first Creative at Heart Conference this past Fall in Charleston, South Carolina. It was a jam packed two days learning from the best in the industry. Photographers, graphic designers, bloggers, shop owners- all sharing their heart with one common theme of community over competition. I met brand new friends that I may never have met otherwise, and my notebook was FULL of educational notes and inspirational ideas to implement in my business when I left.

And after four years of attending the Pursuit Conference, I do everything in my ability to continue to be there. Pursuit uniquely creates space to remember what really matters in life and business. I’ll never forget the first time I saw the photographers I most admired in the world get up on stage with such brave authenticity- vulnerable and honest- about what really mattered to them at the end of the day. And you know what? Followers, likes, publications- all the things I assumed that needed to be the most important to me too- never made that list. I attribute so many opportunities and blessings in my business from the perspective that the Pursuit Conference gives me each year!
