Being a business owner, particularly when it survives entirely on your art and passion, is not an easy task. It comes with daily challenges that make you question if it was the right choice. You can take too much of everything personally. Wondering if 9-5 wasn’t the better option. It’s like that saying, “I gave up working 40 hours a week so I could work 80.”

Sometimes you question it. Every decision. Every launch. Every move. And sometimes emails come in like you’re a Walmart with one lined “send me your prices I need pictures asap”. As if you’re just a clearance aisle of detergent.

And you wonder if your message is ever heard. If it’s ever seen and ever felt. This work you pour your life into…

But then…sometimes…you get an email from a mother like I did this morning, who told me she wanted to have photographs to remember. To never forget this season of life with her busy one year old, to have photographs throughout her home for not just the here and now, but for when he is older. She said I saw your photographs and just knew that you would capture what I need to remember…

These are the mothers that inspire my greatest work and remind me of what’s most important. These are the ones who hear the words of my photographs.
