A couple weeks ago I had the honor of photographing newborn portraits for my good friend Spring in their North Conway, New Hampshire home.  I wanted to create a collection as timeless as her maternity portraits that we photographed in Cape Elizabeth, Maine last month.

The night before our session was a rough one for this family, and it seemed that the only one who showed up to the session fully rested was myself and Stacia, our hair and makeup artist! You would never know that Spring was a first time mother though.  She was as calm as ever, and despite a very fussy little one, and very little sleep the night before, we made the best of what the day brought to us.

It’s such a reminder of why these sessions are so important to invest in. Because when you’re IN it, each day just trying to feel rested enough to make it to the next, it can be easy to forget how beautiful each of those days are. Each day your newborn child getting a tiny bit bigger, these photographs will be what you have to remember. To remember how tiny they fit all nuzzled up near your neck, or how their favorite spot to sleep was on your chest to hear that familiar heart beat. To remember how their whole head fit into just one of your palms. How nervous you were, but how proud and excited you felt all at the same time.
