Earlier this summer Rhode Island photographer Katie Lovaas contacted me about scheduling a portrait session for her son’s one year old celebration. She didn’t want a cake smash or anything of that sort, she wanted something really special that would give her incredibly meaningful portraits of her and her baby. Portraits that celebrate not only a year of life, but a year of motherhood.

I met Katie, her husband, and son at the gorgeous Nappatree Point in Watch Hill. It was the perfect summer weather, and the sun setting down on the ocean literally took my breath away. It was my first time photographing in Watch Hill, and I can’t wait until the next time!
