As a photographer who specializes in my unique niche of Connection Portraits, with a strong focus on Fine Art Motherhood Portraiture, it’s not very often that I share a head shot portrait session here on the blog, but I just couldn’t resist sharing this one! Head Shot portrait sessions are much different than my more common portrait work. You will see below that they are traditional in size, rather than my signature square presentation, and that is done so because of their use. I want creatives to be able to use these images how they need to for their website and brand, and often that requires traditional sizing. 

Last week I had the honor of photographing new head shot portraits for Heidi Lynne Photography.  She was visiting Bailey Island, Maine on vacation from Pennsylvania, and booked a session on the rocky coast while she was here. We had a perfect overcast afternoon, creating what makes my absolute favorite beach light to photograph in. The West Coast can keep that warm golden light I hear so much about, I will take the foggy coast of New England for all my days!!

What I really loved about this session, outside of the incredible Bailey Island location, was how Heidi approached being photographed. From the moment of contacting me, she made it clear that she was not just looking for updated images for her website. Although they would too serve that purpose, Heidi was wanting the experience of being photographed. As a photographer, I cannot stress that importance enough! Having images for your website and brand as a creative are of course so important, but I would also encourage you to really approach the session deeper than that. Really invite your photographer in to let them capture who you really are!
