Last weekend I had the privilege of flying to Delaware to work with photographer Stacy Hart and her beautiful family. When you’re a photographer and a mom, you end up countless images of your children but never any of you holding them. It’s one of my greatest honors to photograph these women with their loved ones.
Stacy and I had been talking about this session since last fall at the Pursuit 31 Conference, and I was so excited when it was finally time to photograph her and meet her family. Within minutes of planning these family portraits I knew that it was most important for Stacy to be have those photographs of her with her children and her husband, because she had always been the one who was behind the camera. She wanted the full experience of being a client, from how she was welcomed after she booked to how she would be taken care of every step of the way. This is SO important to me, as the majority of my clients are photographers themselves- it’s a passion of mine to make them feel spoiled and not just send a digital download link, but REALLY provide them with a tangible portrait experience that they deserve. Because you are worth it, you know? As photographers we tell our clients to invest in this- but do we? It’s so important.
I cannot begin to express how blessed I was by this family during my stay. Steve and Stacy have such a passion for marriage and family, and I cannot wait to see where God takes them and their ministry as they work with couples all over the country. What really left an impression on me, was that it was more than lip service and blog posts. I truly SAW them living out the values of everything she writes about. From their stay at home daddy daughter date nights that happen every Saturday night, to the way that Steve really saw how important this was to his wife and did everything in his power to make that portrait session a smooth experience for everyone. I have worked with husbands who cooperate and tolerate portrait sessions because they were asked to, but Steve saw Stacy’s need for this and it really blessed me to see that.
We started the session in their BEAUTIFUL new home that they recently moved into. Their bedroom was perfect for pig piles and barefoot tickles on the bed. I love capturing how families really are and how they would interact if I weren’t even there. It is such a trust that my clients have for me that I never take for granted. It is such an honor to be invited into the special nooks of each family! Although the majority of all my family sessions focus on the connection between just two, we took this opportunity to photograph the family as a whole that I am thrilled to share with you here today.
Here are a few favorites from their family collection!
