Sometimes you can talk about something for so long that somehow it doesn’t seem real, or that it really is going to happen. But with Memorial Day weekend just a few days away, I am again reminded that summer is almost here, and that brings me one huge step closer to my move to Portland, Maine.

For those of you have followed along the journey, you know that this decision largely came out of my desire to go full time with my business, and although Bar Harbor was the plan for quite some time, my love to travel to clients all over the country made it necessary for me to consider the option of living near a great airport. I am not sure how else to describe it other than God just worked it all out from there- and still continues to do so.

Have you ever moved to a new city? It’s exciting and it’s overwhelming all at the same time. There is so much to learn about the best places to go and do and see.  Of course the best places are always word of mouth. It’s never the “touristy” places, it’s the local places that are family owned that have the local’s hearts. The kind of places you only know about because a good friend told you, or maybe shared about it on Facebook.

And that’s what I am asking you for today. To help get the word out.

I have been thinking long and hard about how to get the word out about my portrait business in the Southern Maine area. I have photographed a few sessions there, and have a few lined up in that area this summer- but I knew I wanted to do something more. Of course I will still be traveling to my clients here in Connecticut and throughout New England- and even a big trip to Atlanta this fall. But I am so beyond excited to be able to photograph my clients in the breathtaking coastal backdrop of Maine on a regular basis. And I can share that I am coming to the area until I am out of words- but it is you friends who make the “word of mouth” possible. You are how people of Portland will hear about me and know that I am soon to be local.

I thought about giveaways and contests, the kind that require you to share and follow ten different times on ten different things- and quite frankly, I just want to share something a bit more simple. A bit more straight from the heart, and a tad more honest. I want to share the simple truth that I need you, and I need your help.
